RiskAdvisor can send client data to HawkSoft two ways: Direct Create and the HawkSoft Document. This guide explains the difference and when to use each, so you can pick the right one or use both.

The two options

Direct Create pushes the client straight into HawkSoft through the Partner API. It is automatic, needs no file, and needs no HawkSoft Desktop. It sends client and basic policy data, but not full rating fields.

The HawkSoft Document is a file RiskAdvisor builds (a .CMSMTF file) that you import into HawkSoft Desktop. It carries full rating fields, but you download and import it yourself.

How it works

Pushes automatically through the Partner API

You download a file and import it into HawkSoft Desktop

HawkSoft Desktop needed

No

Yes

Data sent

Client, contacts, mailing address, basic policy lines

Full rating fields (coverages, vehicles, drivers, and more)

Best for

Getting the client into HawkSoft fast with no re-keying

Full rating detail for quoting

Use both together

You do not have to choose. Many agencies use both to get speed and rating detail.

  1. Use Direct Create to create the client in HawkSoft automatically.

  2. Then bring in the HawkSoft Document for the rating fields and match it to that same client in HawkSoft.

When you use both, Direct Create makes the client record first. You then match the HawkSoft Document to that existing client rather than creating a new one.

Which should I use?

  • You want the client in HawkSoft fast and will rate later: Direct Create.

  • You need full rating detail in HawkSoft now: HawkSoft Document, or both.

  • You want speed and rating detail: use both.
